Houseplant First Aid & Propagation

with Raychell Libby

Take home a new baby plant. Houseplants purify the air, regulate humidity, even reduce stress levels, and enhance mood. They add natural beauty, wonder and joy to our lives. Cover basic needs: light, soil, water, nutrients and protection from pests. Overview typical problems and solutions, with attendees encouraged to bring a photo of, or their actual challenged plant, for advice on care. Explore best bet varieties for various light levels, easiest care, air purification, and gift-giving. Learn basic propagation techniques, then get hands on, try it yourself, and take home your very own propagated baby plant. On behalf of Broadway Gardens, one lucky student will also take home their very own houseplant! Bring transport box with cold protection/wrap for any plants you bring in or take home. Raychell is a horticulturist, landscaper and owner of Fervor Farm in Hollis. She’s been dubbed, “the house plant lady” at Broadway Gardens where she’s been sharing her passion for plants and gardening for 10 years.
