Advanced Beginner Photography

Take it to the next level!  A perfect continuation of our beginner class for Dave Cleaveland’s past students, and/or those with comparable levels of experience. Continue your learning and practice, moving on to cover long exposures, night time photography, panoramas, and possibly a fun surprise...  Use Adobe Lightroom for this class. Your equipment must include a DSLR (or a camera with fully manual settings) and a sturdy tripod. Three classrooms days, three off-site days. See instructor bio above.

We’re pleased to host Chef James Larvia, a graduate of Johnson & Wales School of Culinary Arts with concentrations in sustainability and wellness. He shares his experiences from cooking at Jedediah Hawkins Inn, NY; The Barn, Block Island, RI; Havana in Bar Harbor; and Emilitsa in Portland. Prices for all classes include: food sampling, any leftovers to take home, handout Bring to all classes: apron, cutting board, knife, and a container to bring leftovers home.


Take the chill off! When the nights start getting colder people turn to the warmth and comfort of homemade soups and hearty stews. Learn to make two classic family favorites from scratch - Italian Wedding Soup and Broccoli Cheddar.

New! Explore a new way to create stunning abstract wall art on 8 x 10” stretched canvas, where you’ll never know what beautiful patterns will be created until the paint is poured. Overview what types of paint and additives work best, as well as special techniques to create art you can be proud to hang at home. Appropriate for all artistic skill levels, from beginner to pro. You’ll be transporting your wet paintings home in a container provided by the instructor, but you may want to have plastic or cardboard in your car for the trip home. Tara is a self-taught artist with a BA in psychology, a minor in communications and a certificate in holistic health coaching; she has attended and taught extensive art classes: Instagram and Facebook @TaraTeachesThings.

Certified Residential Medication Aide - CRMA

40-hour Maine State Certification course prepares you to distribute medications within a senior living community. Course covers State regulations, residential facility policies and procedures, common medications and side effects, basic anatomy & physiology and infection control as well as records documentation.


Dates: November 5 - November 23rd

Days:  Tu/Wed 5:30-8:30; Saturday 9-3

Cost $350 per student plus $100 Supervised    Med Pass

Chinese Cooking Secrets

New! Learn about basic Chinese cooking tools, ingredients, seasonings, caring for woks and cleavers, and techniques you can adapt for everyday cooking. Bring your appetite, as a delicious dinner of handmade wonton soup, wok-roasted whole chicken, garlic and ginger seafood stir-fry with vegetables, and perfect steamed jasmine rice will be served. Part demo, part hands-on. Bring small container or baggie for possible leftovers. Chris is a Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School instructor who’s taught Asian cooking in Maine for 30 years. A retired teacher, principal, university instructor, and Maine Guide, he learned cooking from his parents; classes integrate his love of teaching and great food, highlighting a fusion of Far East foods with local Northeast offerings. Certification Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of medical office tasks from administrative to technical and scientific duties and must have quality human relations skills. Our program provides virtual reality style classroom work as well as traditional style teaching for a blended learning experience. Practicals are performed during the program to ensure that the student has proper techniques and will be ready to pass the National Certification. Upon completion of the program, you will sit for your CCMA (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant) national certification exams through NHA. $3,000
