HiSET or Accuplacer Math Class

If you are planning to go to college in the Summer or Fall you will need to take the Accuplacer Test for college placement. This class is designed to help you prepare for the test and/or increase your scores so that you are admitted into a College Algebra class.
If you score at the college-level on your HISET math test you may waive the Accuplacer Math requirement for your local community college.
You may take the Accuplacer test at a local adult education program or at SMCC

SAT Prep: Get Me Ready Math ONLY
with Instructor Hayward
For students who need a brush up and test taking strategies to attain optimal success on their SAT Math test. Students will review solving and interpreting linear equations, systems and quadratics. We’ll also talk about how to recognize and work with exponential function, function notation and composite functions. Test taking tips and calculator strategies also addressed. Instructor Hayward has taught SAT prep classes since 1998, teaches high school math through AP Calculus currently at Scarborough High. He earned his Mathematics degree from UMe and Master’s degree in Secondary Teaching of Mathematics from UNH.

Cost: $150 for this one course alone, or choose BOTH a math and the read/writing course for a discount!
Cost includes all materials and Special Math Bonus Lab: Mon, 4/13, 6-8pm, for students of both math classes. Students can work independently, work together, and/or get extra help from Mr. Hayward. An extra practice exam will be given as an option. Come for any part or all of the time.

If you did not earn your high school diploma, taking the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) earns you an equivalent diploma. There are five sections to the computer-based test (Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science) and our individual tutoring and classes help you prepare to take and successfully pass all five tests. Students are given pre-tests to determine whether or not you are ready to take the actual Official Tests or may need some preparation work. All services and tests are FREE.
You must meet with us for an Intake Session before starting a HiSET program, so be sure to contact us.
All Official Tests are administered by Scarborough Adult Learning Center at Scarboorugh High School, by appointment only.

Please note that all students who are taking academic classes must register with Adult Education and schedule an Intake Session. Our funding is dependent upon having the correct information in our files and the purpose of intake is to gather as much pertinent information as we can about your educational goals so that we can assist you in reaching those goals. Whether you are working towards HiSET/adult HS diploma, College or a Career certification or are an English language learner we are here to help you. Please call anytime for assistance.
SAT Test Prep: BOTH courses/discount
High school students will be taught about the format of the test and test taking strategies specific to that subject, by experts in their fields. Students will thoroughly review and practice within the subject area, focus on individual challenges, as well as on aspects that have traditionally given students difficulties. Frequent assessments will provide each student with individual feedback. Up to one hour homework per meeting, including a practice section will be assigned.

This is a small, individualized class designed to assist students with completing their high school diploma by concentrating on what the student needs in order to successful complete all five tests. Students have access to HiSET Academy, an online learning platform in addition to the class time. Pre-tests are administered in class to determine readiness for the tests.
