Acadian Arts Retreat at Harbor View House

Your instructor, Chris Toy, is the author of 6 popular cookbooks and has taught Asian Fusion cooking for several Maine community education programs. Cooking students will learn how to prepare a variety of recipes from Asia, Europe, and the Americas, incorporating traditional and local ingredients. 

Each meal will actively engage cooks with the tools, techniques, and stories behind the dishes being created. Escape to a Victorian Inn (lodging paid separately), the Harbor View House in Prospect Harbor on the Coast of Maine.

A Watercolor workshop is offered at the same time at this retreat. Accomplished watercolorist and esteemed teacher, Mary Laury, will encourage you to believe in your artistic process. If you have never painted with watercolors, this class will start at the beginning. Experienced painters will pick up some new tips and tricks!

Rooting Out Invasive Plants Field Workshop

Invasive species are organisms that are non-native to a particular area and cause harm to the environment where they are introduced. Under the guidance of Scarborough Land Trust Stewardship Director, learn how to identify and combat invasive plant species using non-chemical treatments. Be prepared to walk a short distance, potentially off the maintained trail. We recommend wearing long pants, comfortable footwear, and applying bug spray. Maximum of 10 participants. Your instructor has completed the Maine Forest Service's Invasive Plant Academy management planning course.
